  Hebin LIN

A warmly welcome to the 10th APRU DSC in Kyoto! I am Hebin Lin, originally from China, a PhD candidate in Kyoto University, studying global ecological economics with a focus on ecosystem services and the corresponding governance. I am looking forward to any interesting discussion and viewpoints in different fields. But above all, I am especially encouraged to participate in organizing this event with my other colleagues in Kyoto University where minds can always meet communicative counterparts. As with the previous DSCs, it is expected to be a great opportunity for young researchers in various disciplines to meet and share exciting academic experience as well as inspiring observations on society. Moreover, as a bonus, I hope all of you will enjoy Kyoto - the city of culture and surprises!

  Masahiro KUMETA

It's a great pleasure for me to welcome you to this 10th APRU DSC meeting in Kyoto. I am Masahiro Kumeta, a PhD student studying molecular cell biology. "A new idea always comes from the external world." I expect that this meeting will be a valuable opportunity to find out something new and something essential for our future work. Why don't we get started on the collaboration to cultivate real creativity?

  Hirohide TAKAHASHI

Hello, I am Hirohide Takahashi, a graduate student at the graduate school of Biostudies at Kyoto University. I work on molecular biology as a Ph D student here.

When I was a freshman in my Ph D course, I had an opportunity to visit a laboratory at the University of Cambridge in England for several months as a part of research collaboration. During the stay, I spent my time not only doing my research project, but also meeting and having a good time with other graduate students from various countries such as England, Italy, Chile and India. They have different backgrounds to me such as age, education and religion and we used to talk about our sense of values, our ambitions and so on. This experience had a great influence on my life. Because of this reason, I believe an interchange between graduate students from various countries is really worthwhile and I decided to be a committee member for the APRU meeting. I would like to do my best to prepare a nice meeting. I am looking forward to seeing you in Kyoto!
